Topics covered = Introduction of prefabrication construction, need of prefabrication, principle behind prefabrication , material of prefabrication, modular co-ordination , standardization, system, production ,transportation and erection.
Definition -
Prefabrication is a practice of assembling component of a structure in a factory or other manufacturing site and transporting complete assemblies to the construction site where the structure to be located.
Process of prefabrication -
An example from house building is illustrated the process of prefabrication. The conventional method of building a house is to transport, brick, timber , cement , sand, steel and construction aggregate etc to the site and to construct house on site.
In prefabricated construction only foundation are constructed in this way while section of the wall, floor and roof are prefabricated at the factory including and window is transported to construction site, lifted to the place by crane.

Uses Of Prefabrication -
- the most widely used form of prefabrication in civil engineering is prefabricated concrete and prefabricated steel section, in structure where a particular part is repeated many times.
- pouring concrete section in a factory brings line advantages of being able to reuse moulds and the concrete can be mixed on factory itself no need of transporting, pumping and placing of concrete.
- Prefabrication technique are widely used in construction of apartment blocks and housing development with repeated housing units.
- Prefabrication of steel section reduces on site cutting and welding costs as well as the associated hazards
- this techniques also used in office blocks, where houses and factory building.
- Prefabricated steel and glass section are widely used for exterior of large buildings.
- Prefabricated bridge elements and system after bridge designer and contractor significant advantages in term of construction time, safety, environment impact, construction ability and cost.
- Radio Tower for mobile phone and other services often consist of multiple prefabricated sections.
- Prefabrication is widely Used in the assembly of aircraft and spaceship, with component such as wings and fuel tank section often being constructed /manufactured in different countries or state from the final assembly site .
Thus this will insurance about better quality for every contract, helpful for establishing a better durable structure.
